Scottish Exam Guides

SQA have information and resources to help students who are studying for National Qualification Courses and Highers. If you are sitting exams, be sure to make use of all the resources on offer — Past Papers, Study Guides, Apps for your phone and much more.

Past papers
Most pupils should have had the opportunity to look through past papers supplied by school, but if this is not the case or you would like to see more papers you can look through all of the SQA past papers here. You can also create specific subject links here.

Study guides
SQA also provide study guides, with useful advice to help you with issues such as :

Getting it right on exam day
Coping with stress
Time management
Learning styles
Creating a study plan
Help and Support
Effective Study Habits
Past Papers
Reading and Note Taking

See here.

Another useful tool is the MyStudyPlan app  where students can add in their  own subjects, prioritise how much time they want to spend on each and schedule the amount of time for studying. The service will then build a custom study plan, which you can view or print out.

Exam timetable
The Exam timetable can be helpful for parents to see when their child's exam will take place and students may want to build a personal exam timetable, this allows students to construct their own timetable. There is a version of the builder available for mobile phones here.

Exam guide
Another useful resource is SQA's general exam guide. This new booklet tells you what to expect and what to do, and tells you how you will receive your results and your certificate.

Candidate portal
Finally, make sure to check out the candidate portal 'My SQA' - where students can register to receive their exam results online or via text on results day and manage their qualifications portfolio though-out their careers.
