St George’s girls are top of the class

The Education Advisers yesterday (18 January) presented St George’s School for Girls in Edinburgh with an award after the all girls school delivered the best Advanced Higher and A Level results of any independent school in Scotland.

When pupils received their results last summer St George’s celebrated success at all levels. The independent school, which offers its pupils the opportunity to do both Advanced Higher and A Level, achieved a 99 per cent pass rate at grades A to C in Advanced Higher with 91 per cent of pupils attaining credit in their Standard Grades. The school has also excelled in English examinations with a 100 per cent pass rate at A Level, 97 per cent accomplishing grades A to C.

Anne Everest, Head at St George’s said: “We are exceptionally proud of how well the girls performed in their exams but discovering we are top of the results table for independent schools in Scotland is truly an honour and a fitting tribute to all the hard work of the girls and the teachers.”

Les Webb, Managing Director, Education Advisers Ltd commented: “It is a pleasure to present this award to St George’s School for Girls after their excellent results in both Scottish and English examinations.”

In March the school will commemorate 100 years of boarding which will see former boarding students return to their once home for a special reunion along with a calendar of celebrations.
