At Clifton Hall School, every child is seen, known and valued. It is never one-size-fits-all — which is why our school will never exceed 500 pupils, and our Nursery remains small and welcoming, with a maximum of 40 children.
Our intentionally small class sizes allow staff to build strong relationships with every pupil, understanding their strengths, needs and potential. We take pride in supporting children to flourish in their own way — whether that’s academically, in sport, music, drama or the creative arts.
We also believe that every child has great potential when given the right nurturing environment. That is why we do not administer stressful entrance exams. Instead, we focus on getting to know each child as an individual and providing the support and encouragement they need to thrive.
Our teacher-led Nursery offers an exceptional start to school life for children aged 3-5 years, with a strong foundation built through play-based learning, outdoor exploration and rich creative experiences. Children are guided, inspired and encouraged to develop confidence, curiosity and a genuine love of learning. Prospective parents are warmly invited to book a bespoke Stay and Play session with our Head of Nursery. These session can be booked via our website www.cliftonhall.com
In the Junior School, pupils build firm academic foundations while growing in resilience, independence and self-belief. A wide range of clubs, sports and creative opportunities ensures every child can discover what they enjoy and experience success.
In the Senior School, pupils are challenged and supported to achieve their best. High expectations are matched by opportunities across sport, music, drama and art, helping young people develop ambition, empathy and the confidence to step into life beyond school. We consistently achieve exam success well above the average, ensuring pupils leave Clifton Hall with strong results and bright future pathways.
Set within 52 acres of beautiful private grounds on the edge of Edinburgh, Clifton Hall offers an outstanding environment for learning and growth, including:
