4 Independent School Baby & Toddler Groups in Edinburgh
Many independent schools hold weekly stay-and-play events for parents, babies and toddlers. These provide a fantastic opportunity for you and your child to explore and make friends. If you’re in the process of choosing a nursery, this is also an ideal occasion for you to get a real feel for a place and the team who work there.
NB: We didn’t find regular weekly events at every independent school. But it’s worth following potential nurseries and schools on social media. That way you can sign up to one-off stay-and-play events when they’re advertised by the nursery. ‘Little Ones’ Workshop at The Edinburgh Academy Nursery
When? Thursday, 8:45am–10:00am
What? For parents, babies and toddlers. Meet local parents and carers. Enjoy tea or coffee and let your little ones explore the nursery.

Wednesday Playgroup at The Forest at Merchiston
What? Experience life at a Forest Nursery and meet the nursery team. Open to all families with children aged 0-5

“Come and Play” at St George's School
When? Friday, 11 am
What: A weekly session bookable on Eventbrite. A session might involve messy play, rhyme time, music and languages. For babies and little ones aged 1-3 years.

Toddler Group at Edinburgh Steiner School
When? Monday or Thursday
What? A 2-hour session incorporating songs, puppets, circle time, craft, and (season permitting) guided outdoor adventure. You can block book a term, or a single session if available. £10 per session.
