These term dates apply to most Edinburgh local authority schools. Some schools have different holiday and term dates, in particular, independent schools. Therefore, we advise that you check the schools websites for confirmed dates.



Term & Holiday Dates 2025/2026 for Pupils


Term 1: Wednesday 13 August to Friday 10 October 2025. (Except School Closed Monday 15 September)

  • Mid-term (Half-term) holiday: Monday 13 October to Monday 20 October 2025 (inclusive).


Term 1 : Tuesday 21 October to Friday 19 December 2025.

  • Christmas and New Year holiday: Monday 22 December 2025 to Monday 5 January 2026 (inclusive)..


Term 2 : Tuesday 6 January to Friday 13 February 2026.

  • Mid Term (Half-term) holiday: Monday 16 February to Friday 20 February 2026 (inclusive)..


Term 2 : Monday 23 February to Thursday 2 April 2026.

  • Easter holiday: Friday 3 April to Monday 20 April 2026 (inclusive).


Term 3 : Tuesday 21 April to Friday 26 June 2026 (except May Day bank holidays)

  • Bank holiday: Monday 4 May and Tuesday 5 May 2026 (inclusive).

  • Victoria Day : Monday 18 May 2026.


  • Summer Holidays: Monday 29 June - Tuesday 11 August 2026 (inclusive).
