A Montessori Approach to Learning
The nursery follows the Montessori approach, placing the child firmly at the centre of their learning. Carefully prepared classroom environments and open-ended materials encourage children to learn through hands-on discovery, allowing them to choose activities that reflect their individual interests. Practitioners support each child to work at their own pace, developing practical life skills, concentration, independence and self-motivation. This child-led approach helps build confidence and resilience, laying strong foundations for future learning.
Outdoor learning is an integral part of the Montessori experience at Edzell. Children enjoy time in the nursery garden and take part in regular local outings, including visits to the nearby Botanic Gardens. These experiences provide valuable opportunities to explore nature, observe the world around them, and extend learning beyond the classroom walls.
Funded Places Available
As a partner-provider nursery, Edzell offers funded places for eligible children, giving families access to a full-time, term-time Montessori experience. This means that parents can choose a high-quality early years education, thoughtfully designed to give their child the best possible start — all at no cost.
