Our vision for Fettes Prep combines the joy and breadth of a traditional prep school education with developing the skills young people need to cope with change and challenge.

Prep for the Future 

Our teaching is different. Pupils acquire the same knowledge as in other schools but via a route that encourages critical thinking, teaches collaboration, encourages creativity, builds resilience and develops empathy. 

Our pupils are not spoon-fed knowledge for regurgitation in exams/assessments although our approach makes them very good at passing them.  Instead, lessons require children to think for themselves, re-shaping thinking so that children are given advice and credit for how they work together and the originality of their thinking. 

Prep for Fettes Senior School 

A change of school is always daunting but moving from Fettes Prep to our Senior School is an exciting moment. We have been considering all aspects of school life in the Prep so that pupils are ready, academically and emotionally, for the excitements of Senior School. Lesson content, talks by Senior School staff, allocation to Houses and a gradual building of independence all help towards a smooth transition. 

Prep for a Kinder Tomorrow 

Kindness is our core value at Fettes Prep - careful induction of new pupils into school life and efforts to ensure our whole community is aware of the most up to date research on the effects of social media on young people helps us to protect the special ‘feel’ of our school.
