Step Inside Cargilfield at Its Open Morning
Friday 2 October, 9.00am–12 noon

Choosing a school is about much more than reading a prospectus. It is about stepping inside, meeting the people and imagining your child becoming part of the community.

At Cargilfield’s Open Morning, families can explore the school, speak with teachers and pupils, and see how learning, friendship and opportunity come together each day.

Just 15 minutes from Edinburgh city centre, Cargilfield is Scotland’s oldest preparatory school. It was named Best Prep School in the UK 2026 and Best of the Best for Co-Curricular 2026 in recognition of the dedication and enthusiasm found throughout its community.

Around 300 girls and boys aged 3–13 learn in small classes, allowing teachers to understand each child and tailor learning to their individual strengths and needs. In the teacher-led Nursery, children enjoy their own garden alongside specialist teaching in music, PE, French, swimming and IT.

The adventure does not stop at the classroom door. With more than 70 clubs and activities, daily sport, Forest School, Beach Kindergarten and a dedicated Outdoor Learning Centre, children have plenty of space to explore their interests, try something new and grow in confidence.

Cargilfield also understands the practical needs of busy families. Home-cooked meals, wraparound care until 6pm or 7pm, flexible boarding and bus routes serving Edinburgh, Midlothian, Fife and Perth all help make school life easier.

From those first exciting days in Nursery to preparation for senior school, Cargilfield helps children develop the character and skills to make the most of wherever life takes them.

Wherever they are headed, their adventure can begin at Cargilfield.
