George Heriot’s School celebrates outstanding examination results

George Heriot’s School is delighted to announce an exceptional set of Qualifications Scotland examination results for 2026, with pupils achieving outstanding success across National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher qualifications.

The School achieved its highest number of A grades on record for Higher and Advanced Higher results (excluding the Covid-19 assessed years), highlighting an exceptional year of achievement, effort and attainment.

At National 5, S4 pupils achieved an impressive 97.4% pass rate (A-C), with 82.6% of entries awarded an A grade. A remarkable 103 pupils achieved eight or more straight A grades.

At Higher, S5 pupils attained a 98.3% pass rate (A-C), with 79.9% achieving an A grade, representing the School’s best Higher performance on record*. In total, 113 pupils achieved five or more straight A grades in their Higher examinations.

The School’s S6 cohort also maintained these exceptionally high standards at Advanced Higher, achieving a 95.4% pass rate (A-C), with 69.2% of entries awarded an A grade, also the best result on record*. Additionally, 54 pupils achieved three or more straight A grades at Advanced Higher level.
