St Mary's Music School - Upcoming Taster Days

St Mary’s Music School hosts immersive taster days designed to give young musicians a genuine preview of life as a pupil. Slightly different from a standard open day, the school runs a number of instrumental taster days throughout the year, inviting aspiring players to join in a fun, interactive day of music. Pupils and visitors alike are encouraged to bring their instrument and dive into a world of melody and rhythm.

Instrumental Taster Days

These days are suitable for children aged 8 to 17.

To participate, applicants must have been taking lessons on their chosen instrument for a minimum of 12 months.

The sessions offer a hands-on glimpse into the school’s approach to music education and the vibrant atmosphere of daily practice, rehearsals, and performance.

The next instrumental taster day is 08 March 2026, and interested students can register by completing the sign-up form below.

Vocal Taster Day

For young singers with a passion for classical voice, the Vocal Taster Day provides an immersive experience exploring what St Mary’s unique vocal programmes have to offer.

The event is aimed at classical singers aged 13 to 19 who are ready to take their singing journey to the next level and consider Scotland’s only full-time vocal programmes.

The next Vocal Taster Day is taking place on 15 March 2026.

Eligibility notes: if you’re aged 13–19 and have been receiving singing lessons for at least 12 months, this is the perfect opportunity to explore pathways toward professional singing.
