The Compass School, Haddington (Nursery and Junior School for 4-12yrs) holds Open Days in Spring and Autumn.
The next Open Day is Saturday 7th March 2026. Prospective families are invited to register and request an appointment time.
The Compass is pleased to offer school tours at any time during the year; if attendance at the Open Day is not possible, interested families should get in touch to arrange a mutually convenient appointment.
Places are offered strictly in the order in which application forms are received, with siblings of children at the School given priority in this process. For entry into Form 2 to Form 8, applicants are invited to spend a day at the School to experience its activities and to allow the School to assess their strengths and needs in advance of an offer. This day, together with a report from the child’s existing school or nursery, helps determine the most suitable placement for the child.
The earliest stage at which children may join The Compass is in September of the year in which they turn four, when they may begin in the Reception Class. The School’s intake runs from 1 January to 31 December (local authority schools run 1 March to 28/29 February). Places are normally offered in October of the preceding year for children beginning in the following September.
A child may begin at The Compass School at any point from age four to twelve, provided there is a place available at the child’s stage and the child has completed a successful familiarisation/assessment day with the School. Similarly, enrolment may occur at any stage of the school year, although the start of a new term is preferable.
