The Forest is the Junior years at Merchiston Castle School Edinburgh. If you are considering starting your child to join the school in Primary 1 (5yrs) or any year up to Primary 5 (9yrs) this coming August 2026, assessments take place in January 2026.
To apply to the assessment process, the form online should be completed. Upon submission, a member of the Admissions Team will contact the applicant to discuss the next steps.
The assessments will take place on January 23rd and 24th, 2026.
Friday will include both morning (9:30am–12:00pm) and afternoon (1:00pm–3:00pm) sessions, while Saturday will offer a single morning session from 9:00am to 11:30am. Each child will have the opportunity to meet the Forest team before participating in the assessment in a relaxed and informal setting.
The applicant will be contacted to confirm the date and time of their child’s assessment. While a preferred time may be indicated, availability cannot be guaranteed, and confirmation from the team is required.
