Prospective choristers are invited to come and sing and discover life as a chorister at St Mary’s Music School. Chorister afternoon will take place on Friday, 1 May 2026.
Being a chorister at St Mary’s Music School offers pupils a unique combination of outstanding musical training, a first-class academic education, and the opportunity to be part of a centuries-old choral tradition. All choristers are educated at the world-class St Mary’s Music School.
The Chorister Pre-Audition Afternoon is a relaxed and welcoming introduction designed for P3, P4, and P5 pupils who love to sing and who are interested in becoming full-time choristers from September 2026.
During the afternoon, participants take part in a fun, friendly singing session led by the choral staff; they gain a sense of what rehearsals are like and how choristers work together; they learn more about chorister life at St Mary’s Music School, both musically and day-to-day; and they build confidence and understanding ahead of the audition process.
The afternoon is not an audition;
However, participants may be invited to audition by the Director of Music at St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral afterwards.
Parents and carers are warmly invited to attend. They will have the opportunity to ask questions about choristership and life at St Mary’s Music School; hear their child sing in the Cathedral; and learn more about the musical, academic, and pastoral support offered.
