Edinburgh’s weekly newsletter for family friendly stuff to do!
We think this is the best 'Whats On' for kids in Edinburgh Newsletter there is !!!
Researched by Gayle, it is packed with lots of events and family friendly activities across the city and simply listed by date for the week ahead. It comes out each Thursday to give you time to plan your weekend with the wee ones.
It's free or you can subscribe to get two weeks ahead or make a donation:
Here is a small sample from a recent newsletter:
Sunday 9th
✨ Really slim pickings for Sundays these last few weeks… what’s going on?? I have come across a special offer though, which starts today:
📸 Free Kids’ Tickets 2nd-31st March
📍 Camera Obscura, Royal Mile
It’s easy to skip the tourist traps when you live in a city for a long time so if you’re curious what all the fuss is about, you can bring one child for free with a paying adult. Under 5s are always free too which I hadn’t realised. You need an EH postcode for this and use the code EHREWARD25 when booking.
Friday 14th
🎞️ Toddler Club: Paddington in Peru (1-5y) 09.30 🐤
📍 Everyman Cinema, St James Quarter
Includes a hot drink and slice of cake. Extra points if you manage to eat the cake in secret from your toddler.
🎩 Tricky Ricky Magic Show (4-8y) 14.30-15.30 🐤🐔🆓
📍 Morningside Library
A free magic show! Give the library a buzz to book. This will sell out quickly, I reckon.
Saturday 15th
🏃♀️ Come and Try It Orienteering 13.00
📍 Mary Erskine and Ravelston Woods
If you’re looking for something outdoorsy to do as a family, The Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club are holding a family friendly event in the beautiful surroundings of Ravelston Woods. The main event website has an abundance of information for anyone experienced or otherwise but there is more digestible info on their Facebook event page here.
Thursday 20th
📍 Various libraries across town
Did you know some libraries allow dogs in on Thursdays? Useful to know for those of us that begrudge having to haul the dog and children out first thing before doubling back home only to head straight out again to entertain the kids. Save their limited leg mileage and take your fur baby (and human babies) to the library!
📚 Under 5s Storytime 09.30-10.00 🐣🐤🆓
📍 The Edinburgh Bookshop, Bruntsfield
These drop-in storytelling sessions are on every Thursday and Friday morning in The Edinburgh Bookshop. The shop has a wonderful children’s book nook at the back and they also run kids’ book clubs for 10-13 year olds and 14-17 year olds, both of which are accepting new members.
