Holistic Child Development

Nurturing curious minds across two warm, welcoming nurseries in Musselburgh and Edinburgh, writes Mairi McCrae, nursery owner.

At Link Nurseries, we are proud to provide long‑established, trusted childcare and early education for families at our Links Nursery in Musselburgh and Greenbank-based City & Little City Nursery in Edinburgh. Through warm, nurturing relationships and high‑quality practice, we support holistic development for children aged 0–5, led by our dedicated, well‑qualified teams.

Links Nursery

Set in a spacious traditional building between Musselburgh Racecourse and the River Esk, Links Nursery offers a bright, welcoming home‑from‑home environment where children confidently lead their own play. Our experienced staff support curiosity, independence and a love of learning. Outdoor learning is extensive: children enjoy growing plants, using real tools and developing balance and motor skills with equipment designed for active exploration, with regular woodland, park and riverside trips. Inside, we offer three light‑filled playrooms with carefully planned story, craft, role‑play, construction and sensory areas, with a dedicated sleep room, a parents’ room, and a dining room where children enjoy freshly prepared meals each day.

Our modern, purpose‑built City and Little City Nursery sits in leafy Greenbank, offering spacious indoor environments, generous gardens and easy access to woodland areas. Here, our warm, skilled team build strong, secure relationships that help children feel confident, valued and ready to explore. Little City Nursery (0–3) features a large sensory room, a CCTV‑monitored sleep room, three spacious playrooms, garden spaces and a welcoming parents’ room. City Nursery (2.5–5) provides rich, play‑based learning with engaging maths and literacy areas, arts and crafts, sensory play and exciting outdoor spaces including a growing area, mud kitchen and water play. Children also enjoy regular forest school sessions and local outings.
