Loretto School offers a tailored approach to school open days

Loretto School

Leading independent Scottish school, Loretto, is holding a Senior School Open Day with a twist on Saturday 7th March.

The Edinburgh-based boarding and day school is offering families the opportunity to individualise their school visit, with custom tours tailored to the prospective pupil’s personal interests and ambitions. Attendees can share their areas of interest and pre-select their chosen subjects to design an open morning entirely catered to their needs, with teaching staff, pupil guides and campus tours all aligned to provide a personalised, insightful and worthwhile experience for those looking at senior school options.

This personalised touch is reflective of the school’s wider culture. Loretto prides itself on its highly tailored approach to education, its small size lending itself to individualised support for pupils. Staff at Loretto truly know their pupils, recognising the unique talents, strengths, challenges, and abilities of the children in their care.

Loretto’s individualised approach is born out in the 99% of school leavers who go on to their destination of choice. The space to truly understand, guide and support young people to reach their personal goals saw last year’s leavers accept places at prominent UK universities, including Oxford, St Andrews and Durham and an overall 98% A-Level pass rate.

Pete Richardson, Head of Loretto School, said of the open morning: “This is an excellent opportunity for families to experience Loretto first-hand and get a feel for our school culture and community, see our first-class facilities, and speak to our teaching staff.

“With A-Levels and university choices on the horizon, we recognise how important it is for families to choose a senior school that is right for their child and their future prospects. This is why we take a highly tailored approach to our open mornings, where individuals can hand-pick the facilities they wish to visit, staff members they’re most interested in talking to, and topics they would most like to discuss. This approach allows us to streamline their visit and give them the most relevant information to help make their final decision.

“And of course, families have plenty of time during the open morning to explore other campus areas and speak to members of our school community."

Representing the school’s renowned sport faculty are Loretto’s Head of Rugby, Andrew Binikos, and PGA Golf Coaches Nick Drane and Dean Halford, who head up Loretto’s Golf Academy. Regarded as one of the most successful school golf programmes in the UK, Loretto’s Golf Academy is seen as a training ground for aspiring golfers and attracts players from across the globe. [MA1]

Spaces are limited at the event, providing attendees with a more intimate experience and a chance to delve deep into the subjects that matter most to their child.

Mr Richardson added, “Just like our school, our Open Events are kept purposefully small, allowing families to immerse themselves in Loretto’s exceptional campus and community. We invite those interested in Loretto’s Senior School to join us on 7th March for a relaxed visit, chat with our teaching staff, and stay on for lunch in our characterful dining hall.”

Loretto’s Senior School open morning takes place on 7th March 2026 from 10am – 12pm, with attendees invited to stay for lunch in the school’s Dining Hall. To register for the event, families are asked to complete the form here.
