Debutots - now available in Scotland

What is Debutots?

Debutots interactive storytelling and dramatic play is an award-winning, cross curricular programme for children aged 1 - 7 years. Classes promote the four fundamental capacities of the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence and develop children's confidence to speak, concentration to listen and their creative and critical thinking. Children explore complex themes and feelings in a safe and happy environment through storytelling and drama techniques. It’s a progressive three year rolling curriculum made up of a huge range of topic blocks including Eco Tales; Colour Crazy, Happy Habitats and many more. Each week’s adventure is detailed in a Creative Planning Pack with the curricular links to slot into your own planning and we also send our Parent Port Packs directly to parents with suggested story themed activities and an outline of what their little one has done in Debutots.

The children thoroughly enjoy these sessions and have learnt so much especially the social emotional aspects. They enjoyed listening to Caitlin the Ugly Caterpillar story and how it feels to be laughed at and made fun of, also Camelia the Camel’s story and that they’ve to realise some people can do things better than others , friendship, being able to ask for help, how to deal with feelings when changes occur, having empathy towards others if they’re in pain etc , respect for others and have regard for their feelings. All the children have understood these emotions and now know how to deal with them.

My little girl is in Reception class and sometimes struggles to interact with other children. I would thoroughly recommend Debutots. My little girl is extremely shy but every evening after attending her class she is so full of excitement and joy. My daughter talks fondly of Helen and it has been wonderful for her confidence. The mix of age groups attending has been very helpful for her to meet different children in other year groups. I am so pleased we decided to sign up. I can’t thank Helen enough for helping our little girl form relationships, gain confidence and have fun.

Absolutely fantastic. Every child thoroughly enjoyed Debutots days, the stories had real meanings and there was always a message to be taken from it, the interactive nature meant children didn't get bored as they were fully immersed and involved. They all loved the sticker at the end of each day. Parents thought the parent hub resources were brilliant and the follow up activities were well linked to the theme. Children were able to recall amazingly well during the recap at the end of each session which just shows how much they actually took in during each session. The addition of the word of the week was also fantastic.

We can tailor our one off workshops to your chosen themes including special days/dates Children’s Mental Health Week, Valentines Day, World Book Day, Easter, to name but a few. We are also really versatile, if you are working on a specific topic we will adapt sessions to work with you.
