Do you employ a nanny, carer, PA or cleaner?

Mothers of invention, Pamela Cormack and business partner Karen Grieve have come up with a solution that buys families a little more quality time and a lot less hassle. Family Payroll Ltd, is a personalised and affordable service supporting families with all payroll responsibilities when they employ someone in their home – be that a nanny, carer, PA or cleaner.

As founder of Lothian Childcare Solutions Pamela was being asked by more and more families if they could run payroll for the nanny they had placed with them. Appreciating how time is precious for many families with a hectic lifestyle, instead of recommending other payroll providers she really felt that she wanted to offer an end to end service for childcare and payroll services. Family Payroll Ltd was born!

Passionate about supporting families, Pamela and Karen now support a host of families and not only with childcare. Family Payroll provides a dedicated and bespoke payroll service for anyone employing staff for any type of paid role within the home. Boasting a full suite of services, Family Payroll can register individuals as employers with HMRC, register an employee with a pension provider, process payroll, (pay the employee directly on the family’s behalf) issue a free extensive employee contract, and provide access to discounted employer liability insurance. They also offer a monthly payment option which allows families to budget easier and not have to find yearly payroll fees upfront.

Commenting on the business, Pamela Cormack said: “We’re aiming to offer a friendly, approachable alternative that will make life a little easier for time-pressured families. We can help them improve their work-life balance by removing the burden of the administration that goes with being an employer and giving them just one less thing to worry about.”

Pamela, a single mum, has more than 20 years’ experience in the care sector. Before starting Lothian Childcare Solutions in 2018, she worked in nurseries, as a deputy project leader in a children and families project and then as an inspector with the Care Commission (now Care Inspectorate) inspecting early years services across Scotland.

Karen, mother of two sons now at University, was previously a payroll administrator. With over 15 years’ experience in HR Administration, Finance and Operations, she recently gained an accountancy qualification and is committed to furthering her studies.

“We’ve both been juggling family and our careers over the years,” said Karen, “so we know the value of finding something that can make life just that little bit easier. Our aim is not only a successful business but one that also makes a difference to family life.”
